North Bay’s Copper Island Project Yields High-Grade Results

North Bay Resources has unveiled encouraging findings from its Copper Island Project following the exploration conducted in February 2025. The exploration encompassed rock sampling across multiple zones, including Pomeroy 1-3, Beaver, and Copper Bell, revealing significant copper grades of up to 5.69%, accompanied by silver and vanadium. Metallurgical studies further indicated high percentages of copper oxide, a cost-effective form with favorable recovery rates.

Situated near Campbell River, British Columbia, the Copper Island property hosts a Red-Bed Copper deposit within the Karmutsen volcanics formation. The mineralization primarily comprises chalcocite, with additional occurrences of bornite, cuprite, malachite, and native copper in oxidized materials. Chalcocite is notably present in the higher-grade showings, indicating promising mineralization potential akin to other copper-bearing basaltic flows.

The historical context of the site reveals extensive exploration efforts dating back to the 1950s, with subsequent drilling and trenching activities by various entities over the years. Noteworthy work includes Dodge Copper’s detailed program in the 1950s and Prince Stewart Mines’ substantial drilling campaigns in the early 1970s. These endeavors culminated in resource estimates of nearly 51 million pounds of copper. In 2011, Copper Island Mines acquired the claims, initiating geochemical sampling that highlighted significant copper-silver mineral occurrences.

The mineralization trend on the property follows a northwest to north orientation, with distinct zones identified, such as the Pomeroy zones exhibiting considerable copper mineralization. The mineralized zones feature diverse mineral assemblages, including quartz, calcite veining, and copper sulphides, indicative of a structurally complex mineralization system. The presence of acid leachable vanadium further enhances the property’s mineral prospectivity.

North Bay Resources’ recent exploration success underscores the potential for substantial copper resources at the Copper Island Project, reinforcing its position as a significant player in the mining industry. The company’s strategic focus on leveraging the high-grade results and historical data to drive further exploration and development initiatives aligns with its commitment to unlocking the full mineral potential of the region. As North Bay continues to advance its exploration efforts, the Copper Island Project emerges as a promising venture with the prospect of contributing significantly to the copper sector.
